The Ming Dynasty (jun 23, 1368 – oct 1, 1644)
Description:
The Ming Dynasty was the first dynasty to break through and direct pirate activity. The local rulers were threatened with execution if they did not stop piracy, as this was the Golden Age of pirates (also the period that the great wall of China originated). Piracy in this time/area was highly organized, usually operating in fleets. Instead of small pirate havens, tey governed whole coast lines and usually kept away from politics. They did not want to take over China, just to profit. For 500 years they were unchecked and their strength lied in their numbers.
