“Beowulf” is the oldest surviving Germanic epic written in Old English. It was likely composed between 700 and 750. In more than 3000 lines, it tells the fictitious story of the hero Beowulf from southern Sweden who fights monsters and dragons in order to bring safety to his own and other people.
