1st Carlist War (sep 29, 1833 – jul 6, 1849)

Description:

Civil war in Spain that wanted to determine the claim to the throne. There were 2 sides: Carlistas (who supported absolutism and Carlos María de Isidro's right to the throne because he was Fernando VII's brother) and Isabelinos/liberals (who supported liberalism and Isabel II's right to the throne because she was Fernando VII's daughter). The Carlists (carlistas) lost the war and Isabel II was the new queen. Her mother, María Isabel, was the regent because Isabel was a baby.
