Stuart Period (jan 7, 1603 – jul 7, 1714)
Description:
The first Stuart ruler was king James VI of Scotland, who would become king James I of England and the first ruler of the United Kingdom, at Queen Elizabeth's bequest.
The era was rife with conflict, both religious and state-centered, especially during the War of Three Kingdoms, when Charles I was executed, the monarchy abolished, and the Stuarts in exile for a short period of time before Charles II rose to power again.
