New England Confederation (jan 1, 1643 – jan 1, 1684)
Description:
Because England was in the midst of a civil war, the colonists could expect little assistance from England when they were threatened, so Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay, Connecticut, and New Haven form a military alliance known as the New England Confederation. The confederation is directed by a bard composed of two representatives from each colony. It has limited powers to act on boundary disputed, the return of runaway servants, and dealings with American Indians.
Colonial rivalries and renewed control by the English monarch brings the New England Confederation to an end.
