Zheng He's Expeditions (jan 1, 1405 – jan 1, 1433)

Description:

Zheng He’s expeditions took place for almost thirty years during the Ming dynasty. These expeditions used large boats armed with weapons and soldiers. They were meant to facilitate and control trade as well as to demonstrate China’s naval might. These voyages were mostly peaceful, but force was used when necessary. During his travels, Zhang He maintained diplomatic relations with his hosts by presenting them with gifts. These voyages came to an end when the Chinese government decided that the finances being put towards these missions should be focused on other efforts. (3.1)(3.2)(3.3)
