Description:
The Great Leap Forward was an economic and social plan led by Chairman Mao Zedong with the goal of transforming China from an agrarian society to a modern industrialized socialist society that could compete with the industrialization of capitalist counterparts. This lead to a famine that resulted in the death of at least 10 million people.
