Description:
Alliances were formed between the conquistadors and Indian civilizations, which then caused the conquistadors to become involved with the political aspect of the societies. Hernan Cortes formed an alliance with some enemies of the Aztecs, which meant that he was now considered an enemy of the Aztecs. He built up an army of over three thousand Indian allies, and then defeated the Aztecs when Tenochtitlan fell to siege. A similar situation led to the conquest of the Incas, which was led by Fransisco Pizarro and secured the Spanish control of Peru. Key Concept 1.2.111
