Reign Of Charlemagne (oct 9, 768 – jan 28, 814)
Description:
Charlemagne, a Frankish king, is known because he introduced a temporary centralized rule to the Carolingian Empire. During his rule, he expanded his empire from France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and some of Germany to Spain, Bavaria, and Italy. Many others paid tribute to him due to his power. Charlemagne, like many other emperors in history, ruled his empire on horseback until his death, which caused the fall of his empire. This form of rule required the use of courts in order to maintain order and the use of spies to ensure the loyalty of the courts. (3.2)
