Sultanate Of Delhi (jun 12, 1206 – apr 21, 1526)

Description:

The Sultanate of Delhi, founded by the successors of Mahmud of Ghazni, was an Islamic state that controlled much of Northern India and the lands surrounding it. While it never expanded south of the Deccan Plateau due to the prominence of Hinduism, the Sultanate of Delhi established many Mosques, Shrines, and other Islamic buildings throughout northern India and commanded a large army. Northern India was still home to many Hindus at this time and they remained free to practice their faith. (3.2)
