WWII and Cold War (sep 1, 1939 – apr 28, 1989)

Description:

The United States did not enter the war until after the Japanese bombed the American fleet in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. World War 2 ended on September 2, 1945 with the surrender of Nazi soldiers and suicide of Adolf Hitler. The Cold War was the rivalry between the Soviet Union and its allies against the United States and its Western allies, which began after World War II. In June 1950, the very first military action of the Cold War began when the North Korean Army invaded its Western neighbor to the south. Many American officials feared this was the first step in a communist campaign to take over the world. On December 3, 1989, the Cold War 'officially' ended when Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev met with US president Ronald Reagan aboard a Soviet ship docked at Malta Marsaxlokk harbor.
