Description:
The Heian Period is the period in Japanese history when Buddhism, Taoism, and other philosophies were at their height. During this period, Japanese literature and art experienced great growth. However, a lot of land in Japan had fallen into the hands of the elite, which led to upset peasants and an unsteady government. (3.2)
