Abbasid Dynasty (jan 1, 750 – jan 1, 1258)

Description:

The Abbasid Dynasty arose after rebellions in Persia brought down the previous Umayyad Dynasty. The Abbasid Dynasty is known for its tolerance towards non-Arabs, allowing them to serve in the government. Unlike, their predecessors, the Abbasids did not focus on expansion, but rather proper administration of its own people using Persian techniques. They also focused on efforts to convert many to Islam, but allowed the practice of other religions as long as those practicing paid a tax. At its height, the Abbasid Dynasty was an economically strong(due to Indian Ocean and Overland as well as internal trade), well connected, centralized dynasty, but was eventually brought down by internal fighting and invasions from nomadic peoples.
