Reasons: After the Italian wars of 1521, Pope Clemens VII was shocked aout the loss of France. So he and the republic of Venice made an alliance to drive Charles V out of Italy. Soon Francis of France was realesed from his prision in Madrid and he quickly joined Clemens forming the League a Cognac. This of course threated the HRE so.
