Description:
A response to WWI, believing that if rationality had gotten society to such a dark place, they should be irrational. Started with the performance piece of Ball with his reading of his gibberish poem "Karawane".Criticizes society, war, mechanization, and politics, with no uniform style/medium. Artists associated with include Ball, Taeuber, Arp, Duchamp, Hausmann, Hoch, Grosz, Ernst, Man Ray. Many of the artist a part of Dada eventually became involved with Surrealism as well.
