Description:
A response to WWI, believing that if rationality had gotten society to such a dark place, they should be irrational. Started with the performance piece of Ball with his reading of his gibberish poem "Karawane".
Criticizes society, war, mechanization, and politics, with no uniform style/medium. Artists associated with include Ball, Taeuber, Arp, Duchamp, Hausmann, Hoch, Grosz, Ernst, Man Ray. Many of the artist a part of Dada eventually became involved with Surrealism as well.
