Description:
The Heian Period of Japanese history covers 794 to 1185 CE. During this period Japan flourished in culture with literature and paintings. Government and administration during this time was dominated by the Fujiwara clan. Their capital city was Heiankyo. Even though there was an emperor in place the real political power was in the beaurocrats of the Fujiwara clan. In the case of religion, Buddhism dominated this time.The fall came with the Genpei War.3.2
