Marches (aug 29, 1967 – sep 1, 1967)

Description:

The second march grows in intensity, with almost 13,000 counter-demonstrators, chanting death threats for Father Groppi, all in front of their children, involving children as young as three in this hateful movement. Police had to get more involved using tear gas against the White riot; members of the march had to be carried because of injuries from bottles, etc. that had been thrown at them. Fires are set, the streets are in total chaos, police officers and firemen trying their best to keep everything under control. More chaos ensues the next three days, progressively worsening until the mayor forbids night-time marches for the next 30 days.
