Description:
Louis Riel, known as a Metis leader and the founder of Manitoba. He was a central figure in the Red River and Northwest resistances. Riel led two Metis governments and was central in bringing Manitoba to Confederation. He was executed for treason for his role in the 1885 resistance to Canadian encroachment on Metis lands.
