Description:

- a polyphonic, through-composed setting of a short and secular poem.
- could be a variety of forms. Usually consisted of a single stanza with 7ish to 11ish syllables lines.
- voices are of equal importance. no set texture or style.
- targeted for entertainment, or 'fun pieces', for (non/)musicians
- Madrigal composers aimed to match the seriousness OR playfulness of the poetry with the elegance OR wit of the music.
