Meiji Restoration (Japanese Restoration) (jan 1, 1868 – mar 3, 1878)
Description:
The Meiji Restoration involved the restoration of power to the emperor and the creation of a democratically elected representative-bases legislature. The Restoration also pushed for modernization and industrialization, as well as adoptation of some western values. Earlier, Japan was governed by a Shogun and economically ruled by a feudal system.
