Cuthbert Grant (jan 1, 1793 – jul 15, 1854)
Description:
Cuthbert Grant was a fur trader and a Métis leader. In 1816 he led the Métis to victory at Seven Oaks, an unplanned clash of Métis and Selkirk settlers. In 1828 he was appointed warden of the Plains by HBC Governor George Simpson, and for at least 25 years his followers served as providers and protectors of the Red River Colony.
