Industrial Revolution (jan 1, 1750 – jan 1, 1850)

Description:

The industrial revolution was a period where hand production was improved to machinery and factories. Coal replaced old energy sources such as wood and horsepower, and was used to power the steam engine and trains. Transportation sprung up and people and products were able to travel more efficiently, which led to greater productivity and diversity in new towns. Factories played a huge part in the industrial revolution too. The factory system had workers in bad conditions, with low pay, long hours, and dangerous machinery to work with. It had workers at one place working certain hours unlike the previous domestic system where people would work at home by hand. Mass production came out of so many people working at factories with processes that were mechanized, increasing the economy and consumer society. A divide in social classes was beginning to stretch out at this point from factory owners and the low paid workers too.
