Meiji Restoration (Japanese revolution) (aug 31, 1868 – apr 30, 1878)
Description:
The Meiji restoration is a change in Japanese society. Japan was not open to trade or outside influence, which halted their growth. Matthew Perry influenced the decision for Japan to open up their trade. Because of this Japan started rapidly growing and gaining new technology. Since they were closed off as a country, they did not industrialize as quickly as other countries such as Great Britain
