Freedman's Bureau (dec 1, 1865 – may 31, 1872)

Description:

As the congress voted to override Johnson's vetoes, they passed a law in 1865 which gave food and clothing to former slaves and set up hospitals, schools, and jobs for freed blacks that had been former slaves. That led to Congress passing the Civil Rights Act of 1866.
