Austrian Habsburgs tried to retake control of the rich province of Silesia from the the Prussian Empire. Colonial struggles between England and France in the Americas and India channeled the war across the world
Effects:
England emerges as the most powerful nation in the world, but with a massive debt that will eventually result in the lost of its colonies in New England
