Italian revolution (jan 1, 1848 – may 1, 1849)
Description:
Italy was originally under Austrian rule. It became tired of their rule, so in January of 1848, a revolt broke out in Sicily. Initially the nationalists were successful in setting up an independent Italy, but it only lasted 16 months before the Bourbon monarchs once again gained control of the region.
