Description:
In the 19th to early 20th century, rapid urbanization and industrialization
occurred so rapidly that Chicago was breaking down in prevalent delinquencies. Sociologists studied the city like a lab, and discovered common problems of neighborhoods, independent of residents. Ecological perspective offered great insights to understanding the relationship between residents and community on a “forest level.”
