Mexican-American War (apr 25, 1846 – feb 2, 1848)
Description:
American wanted to annex the Republic of Texas in order to fulfill its Manifest Destiny. But Mexico was not ready to accept Texas as its own. President Polk sent some troops on a diplomatic mission but Mexico ended up attacking them and that instigated Polk to attack Mexico. Since Mexico lost, American gained lots of land which is known as the Mexican Cession which included present day states of California, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, annexation of Texas, and many other territories.Added to timeline:
