The American Revolution (jan 1, 1765 – dec 31, 1783)

Description:

Forced into battle with the British, American patriots revolted for their independence. Many battles were fought, with George Washington (later to become the first president of the United States of America from April 30, 1789 to March 4, 1797) as the commander of the newly formed Continental Army and relationships with France and others, the American patriots won their independence from Great Britain, ending with the 1783 Treaty of Paris that allowed the Americans to take control of all land extending to the Mississippi River. The Articles of Confederation were written during the American Revolution. The United States of America was finally free from the grasp of the British.
