Sugar and Stamp acts (jan 1, 1764 – oct 31, 1765)

Description:

The sugar and stamp act were two of the many unfair taxes that were placed on the colonies, it was the start of rising tensions among the colonies between them and England.

Causes- After the seven year war the british had some debt, so they placed these taxes on imports from britain in order to pay for the war costs.

Social impact- This was one of the main reasons behind the revolution because the colonies felt they were being unfairly taxed without representation.
