The war was fought primarily between the colonies of British America and New France, It ended in 1763.
The French and Indian War was the North American conflict in a larger imperial war between Great Britain and France known as the Seven Years' War.
The British victory in the French and Indian War had a great impact on the British Empire. Firstly, it meant a great expansion of British territorial claims in the New World. But the cost of the war had greatly enlarged Britain's debt.
