Irish Immigration (oct 28, 1845 – oct 28, 1849)
Description:
The Irish Immigration to the United States event took place generally around 1845 to 1849.
Certain setbacks in Ireland convinced many Irish natives to travel to America for opportunity, but many did not survive the boat ride there due to sanitation and rations.
The cause of this immigration was the Great Famine in Ireland which was a blight that killed off the potato crop in Ireland; this all caused mass starvation which killed off much of the native population in Ireland.
The historical impact of Irish immigration to America was it led to increased cultural diversity and increased competition for work.
