7 Years War (19h 51min, jan 3, 1756 y – 2h 11min, jul 3, 1763 y)
Description:
France (and their colonies) vs England (and their colonies).
The British wanted to expand into westward North America, which was land held by French fur traders. France was worried about the British gaining more power and eventually coming for the French's sugar colonies in the Caribbeans.
Native Americans sided with both the French and English with the main goal of pitting them against each other to maintain autonomy.
The Treaty of Paris ended the war and limited French presence in the Caribbean, India, and North America. This meant that the Native Americans could not force the French and English into competition with each other. Therefore, the English were able to completely overtake the Natives.
The war also resulted in a deal with the East India Company that brought a fortune to England and excluded France from trading deals in India.
The taxes that helped pay for the 7 Years War were a direct cause of the American Revolution.
The 7 Years War was the first global war which weakened France and led to the American Revolution.
