Description:

The old English was between 428 and 1066. The old English language was spoken in England and southern and eastern Scotland in the Middle Ages. After the norman conquest in the 11th- century ,which is the invasion of England by the army of French and flemish solders. These invasions had a big influence on the English language in 1066. The English language was influenced by the French language and lot of French word became suddenly a Words in the English language too. This French dialect was called for Anglo-Norman. Most of the people who belongs to the high- classes used the Anglo-Norman dialekt, even their nicknames were in French.
Old English developed from a set of North Sea Germanic dialects which was originally spoken by Germanic tribes and it's traditionally known as the Angles, Saxons and Jutes. As the Anglo-Saxons language replaced the languages of Roman Britain, and Latin which was brought to Britain by the Roman invasion. But what is Anglo, saxons, and jutes?
The Angles were one of the main Germanic peoples who settled in Great Britain in the post-Roman period. The word Anglo is the root of the name England( Anglo is a Latin word).
The Saxon were a Germanic people whose name was given to a large country near the North Sea coast of what is now Germany.
Jutes are also Germanic people he Jutes have originated from the Jutland Peninsula and part of the North Frisian coast. in nowadays , the Jutlandic Peninsula consists of the mainland of Denmark and Southern Schleswig in Germany. North Frisia is also part of Germany.
Anglo, Saxon, and jutes were the three most powerful Germanic peoples in the Nordic Iron Age.
Beowulf is an epic story this is written in old English language. The story consist of 3000 lines and its known for the oldest long story in Old English and it considered as the most important works of Old English literature.
