National Road Construction (jan 1, 1811 – jan 1, 1838)
Description:
It job was to reduce transportation cost, open new markets, and accelerate the commercialization of agriculture.
Causes: The western frontier was difficult to settle or transport goods through and it was considerably lagging behind at the time compared to the North and South.
Historical Impact: It helped speed along commerce in the West and connected many cities. As a result, many cities grew in size and population due to the influx of people migrating there.
