This war was caused by the Southern states' desire to keep slavery installed in the American society. The main generals were Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee. Lee, the Confederate General, ended up surrendering to Grant, who was the Union Commander. This War ended and was settled at the Appomattox Courthouse.
