It was a revival of Classical learning and wisdom after a long period of cultural decline and stagnation during the Middle Ages (Dark Ages)
Humanism was introduced - confidence in the possibilities of human thought and creations.
There was alot of discovery and exploration of new continents...
There was a big growth of commerce and trade
Inventions: paper, printing, the mariner’s compass, and gunpowder etc.
King Henry VIII (1491 – 1547)
One of the most famous kings in English history ruled during this time.
He initiated religious restructuring (Reformation), cut all ties to the Church of Rome and established the Church of England and made himself the supreme head of the church.
It was a turbulent time in England at that time.
