The Renaissance and Reformation: Early Tudor Period (jan 1, 1485 – jan 1, 1558)

Description:

The Renaissance and Reformation (1485 -1625)
I. Early Tudor Period 1485-1558

The Renaissance means rebirth in French.

It started in Florence, Italy with (Petrarch, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo) shortly after the Byzantine Empire fell in 1453. Europe was known for the dark ages but not in the middle east. The Middle Easterns traveled to Italy to exchange ideas. The Renaissance was the revival of classical learning and wisdom after long periods of cultural decline and stagnation during the middle ages (dark ages). Humanism merged with confidence in the possibilities of human thoughts and creations. Discoveries and explorations of new continents owned place especially when Christopher Columbus discovered America. The Renaissance wasn’t only about discoveries of continents and confidence in the possibilities of thoughts or creations but about the growth of commerce and trade. Inventions such as paper, printing, the mariner’s compass, and gunpowder were produced.

However, during the Renaissance and Reformation, there were three different periods such as; Early Tudor Period (1485-1558), Elizabethan period (1558-1603) and Jacobean period (1603-1625).

The early Tudor period was about Queen Elizabeth’s father when he ruled the British nation. King Henry VIII was one of the most famous Kings in English history. He initiated religious restructuring and cut all the ties from the church of Rome. That wasn’t all, he established the church of England and made himself the supreme head of the church even though he wasn’t educated or had any knowledge, but continued with his plan because he wanted to divorce his wife to marry another. This was a turbulent time in England.
