Description:

Queen Elizabeth I also known as "the Virgin queen" because of the fact that she never married until her death. Elizabeth was the last monarch of the house of tudor, the dynasty ended after her death. After Henry’s death in 1547, two of Elizabeth’s half-siblings would sit on the throne. Edward VI, who reigned for six years, and then Mary I, who reigned for five years. Mary was Suspicious of ELizabeth, thinking she would try to seize the power for herself. Therefore, she was placed under survilleance and was even jailed for a short period of time. Upon Mary's death in 1558, which made it possible for Elizabeth to become queen. With her strong will, her determination in keeping power, as well as her intelligence making her a symbol as a strong and decisive leader who reigns for almost half a century.

Her accomplishments during her reign can't go unnoticed. As she makes England prevail into the "Golden age". She manages to unify the country, making it stable. Once that was done, England colonized alot of colonies. With the colonies they obtained, England became a super power. With such power, they were able to defeat Spain, whom at the time was said to be the strongest country. The win against Spain, marks England as the English empire. Afterwards are only beneficial aspects for England as trade and commerce flourish. London, which at the time was the largest city in Europe, had residents pf about 200 000 in 1559, which in 50 years would double.

Elizabeth also played a huge factor in cultural changes in England. The queen loved fine clothing and jewelry. A controversial thing at that time was theatre, which Elizabeth only saw as a natural part in society.
