Franco-Prussian War- 1870-1871 (jan 30, 1870 – sep 4, 1871)

Description:

After France declared war on Prussia, another one of Bismarck's strategically planned wars emerged. The southern German states that weren't already a part of Prussia were obliged to ally with Prussia against France in this war, as Austria was not strong enough to take part at all. This war with France resulted in a Prussian victory that inflamed German nationalism and further assisted in Bismarck's unification efforts through manipulation. The war also solidified Bismarck, Wilhelm, and Prussia's role as a leader of Germany.
