♣ Phase 2(toxic phase): fever, bleeding, vomiting, jaundice, and no kidney function

o Facts/Transmission:
♣ Aedes Mosquito
♣ mostly found in Africa
♣ pregnant women should try to avoid places because there is no cure
♣1. Associated with yellow fever where the French needed a faster way from east to the west coast
-the workers dug 76 million cubic yards and 1/3 of the workforce was wick with yellow fever (22k workers die)
♣status: yellow fever is present and near the equator, and 10 deaths have occurred as of November 7th. There will be a routine immunization in 2020
o Not eradicated
o Historical Events:
♣ 1793: Yellow Fever Outbreak in Philadelphia where 20,000 fled the city, and a total of 5,000 people died
♣ 1878: Memphis Outbreak, Doctors, nurses, staff, and patients were infected (33 died)
♣ Carlos Finlay 1881: where he first hypothesized, that transmission was through Aedes Mosquitos
♣ 1905 outbreak: 41,000 deaths via shipment of bananas. It brought attention to anti-mosquito campaigns
