Anti-Mazarin Riots (jan 1, 1648 – jan 1, 1653)
Description:
In the five years between 1648 and 1653 there were major anti-Mazarin riots in France. These riots were lead by nobles who even occasionally threatened the young Louis XIV’s life. Because of this Louis XIV became weary of nobles and would when, he became effective ruler, limit their power greatly while increasing his own. These riots and Louis XIV’s mistrust of noble is what lead him to become an absolute monarch later in his life.
