Reign of Henry IV in France (feb 3, 1589 – nov 4, 1610)
Description:
Despite French weakness after religious and internal conflict, Henry VI was able to regain French strength and laid the foundations for absolutism. He issued the Edict of Nanes to diffuse religious tensions, rebuilt infrastructure and stimulated the economy through selling royal offices. These actions increased centralization of the French state, allowing leaders such as Louis XIV to impose absolutist rule.
