Description:
The Shi'i had strong opposition against the Shah under the Mohammad Reza Shah, and how he used the secret police, the Savak, to control the country. Lead by Ayatollah Khomeini, the state was eventually transformed into an Islamic state lead to religious leaders who implemented Islamic law into many aspects of government.
