Liberation of Concentration and Death Camps (jan 1, 1944 – may 8, 1945)
Description:
The Liberation of German controlled concentration and death camps began when the Allies stared pushing the Germans defence lines back toward Germany. In an effort to hide the concentration and death camps, the Germans destroyed some of the camps as they retreated. The Russian forces were the first to approach a major Nazi camp in Poland. Most Concentration and Death Camps were located in Poland where most of the Jews lived.
