Winnipeg General Strike (may 15, 1919 – jun 21, 1919)

Description:

Loss of jobs and lower pay greeted soldiers when they returned to Canada after World War One. Frustrated, and in need of money, thousands of workers walked off the job on May 15. The strike ended on June 21, on what came to be known as Bloody Saturday, when the RCMP was called in to handle the protesters. Two people were killed, while many others were injured.
Despite its' bitter end, the strike remains one of the largest public protests in Canada's history.
