Truman's Presidency (apr 12, 1945 – jan 20, 1953)
Description:
Truman became the commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States after the death of Roosevelt. Four months before Roosevelt died, he prepared the path for Truman to win the war against Japan. Under his command, the U.S. dropped two atomic bombs the first to be used in warfare on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, effectively ending the war. For many Americans, Truman's legacy as the nation's leading centers on these controversial decisions.
