Description:

Also known as Operation Watchtower, this was a military campaign fought on and around the island of Guadalcanal. It was a series of world War 2 land and sea clashes between Allied and the Japanese forces. this was the first major offensive battle for the Allies in the Pacific Theater. With Japanese troops stationed in this section of the Solomon Islands, U.S. marines launched a surprise attack in August 1942 and took control of an air base under construction, resulting in the victory of the Allies.
