The Allied Invasion of Italy was the invasion of Italy by the Allies. Following the defeat of the Axis in North Africa, there was disagreement between the Allies as to what to do next. Winston Churchill wanted to invade Italy. Beofre they invade Italy, they invaded Sicily, which was a great success. The allies landed in Italy on September 3, 1943. Rhe allied forces used Operation Avalanche to fight. Throughout the days, although German defended, the Allies advanced and by Septemer 16, Germans decoded to pull out of the batttle, resuting in the victory of the Allies.
