Battle of Kursk (jul 5, 1943 – aug 23, 1943)
Description:
The Battle of Kursk occurred around the Soviet City of Kursk in Western Russia. This was Hitler’s response to his devastating defeat by the Soviet Red Army at the Battle of Stalingrad and his way to a comeback. This battle was Germany’s last chance to regain dominance on the Eastern Front during World War II and would be their final blitzkrieg offensive. Though the Germans planned and initiated an offensive strike, the Soviet defence managed to stop their ambitions and launch a successful counteroffensive which freed Oryol, Belgorod and Kharkov.
